Released in 2009, and taken from her mini-album 'Literature Lovers', this is Jose Vanders with 'Man on Wire'. By 21, Jose had already caught many peoples eye as an exciting talent of the future. She had self-produced and independently released 5 EP's and amassed over 2.5 million plays online. To add to this she had also become the face of BBC3, recorded at Abbey Road Studios and had her songs played on Made In Chelsea. From the moment she arrived on the music scene, there was an exciting buzz surrounding her. She was described by Perez Hilton as ‘one of the most exciting things to happen to British music since Amy Winehouse’ and was also marked out as the next Regina Spektor.

Playing beautiful piano based folk-pop, Jose built up an impressive repertoire of songs and first showcased her musical talent in a local pup in Greenwich in 2006. Since then she has played extensively across the UK alongside acts such as Ed Sheeran, Lucy Rose, Ben Howard, Johhny Flynn and Noah and the Whale. She has received substantial airplay and was asked to perform a live session on Rob da Bank's Radio 1 show.

She has since embarked on a number of headline tours and played in New York and Texas. However it seems that in early 2013 she signed to Indigo Records and has now rebranded herself and is now releasing music under the name of LAYLA. We shall just have to watch and see whether this new rebranding takes her away from her roots of beautiful lyrical singing and piano based songs.
