Annelotte de Graaf grew up in Utrecht, Holland, and began saving her money as a teenager with the dream on one day releasing an album.
While living in the USA as a student in 2010, she began writing songs and then when she returned to Holland she released 'Benjamin', an EP of folky songs. Over the next few years she continued to write songs and hone her craft and release the results.
She finally setteld on the Amber Arcades and pooled her money to travel to New York to work with producer Ben Greenberg of Sacred Bones band the Men. Laying down the tracks that she had written back in Holland with a band including members of Quilt and Real Estate, de Graaf's sound is very much Stereolab and Broadcast-influenced.
Heavenly Records liked what de Graaf had put together and signed Amber Arcades to their label, relasing the 5-song EP 'Patientley' in October of 2015. The debut album 'Fading Lines' was released yesterday.
